Concrete Slab and Driveway Construction in Redlynch

The property in Redlynch needed a concrete slab and driveway for parking, and there was nothing in place to start with. The owner wanted a dedicated space to park and durable access up from the street. The site sloped and access was tight, so a standard truck pour wasn't going to reach the work area.

We started with site preparation and earthworks. That meant cutting into the batter to open up a level area for the slab. The excavated soil and rock face sat right behind where the slab would go, so we planned for a retaining connection into it.

Once the ground was ready, we laid a waterproof membrane and set out the steel reinforcing mesh. We tied capped starter bars along the perimeter and along the rock and soil face so the slab would tie into the bank. With access limited, the concrete was pumped from the street. You can see the pump truck at street level in the photos while the pour was going on.

We poured, screeded and finished the slab. Part of the surface was finished with an exposed aggregate, so you can see the stones in it. The rest was trowelled to a smooth finish. We also poured around 80 metres of new concrete driveway to give access from the street up to the parking area. Careful planning kept the pour moving on a site that wasn't easy to work.

The finished slab sits against the cut batter with the retaining connection in place. The exposed aggregate section came up with a clean, textured surface. It's solid, workable concrete that gives the property a parking space and proper access where there was none before.
