Concrete Carport Slab in Edge Hill

The homeowner in Edge Hill needed a solid, all-weather parking space for a carport. The ground behind the two-storey home was uneven, with grass and soft soil that wouldn't hold a slab on its own. That meant full site prep before any concrete went down.

We started by stripping back the surface and clearing the vegetation. There was stacked timber and general clutter across the yard to deal with first. Once the area was clear, we excavated to the required depth.

Next came the foundation. We installed a compacted road base to give the slab long-term stability on the soft ground. Getting the base right is what stops movement later on.

Edge Hill gets heavy rain through the wet season, so drainage and fall mattered here. We set the fall carefully so water runs off rather than pooling against the slab or the house.

With the base and fall sorted, we boxed the area, laid the reinforcement, and poured. The slab sits against the rear of the home, so we worked to a clean edge along the wall. The result is a large, level surface built to take vehicle loads and everyday use.

Once the pour had set, we cleaned the surface down with a leaf blower to clear off any loose debris. The surrounding earth was still disturbed at that point and left to be tidied up.
